BIO
Daniela Stirbulov is a theatre director and actor based in São Paulo.
She has worked in almost every major venue in the city, taking on roles as director, associate director, and resident director.
In 2025, she directs The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare, starring Dan Stulbach as Shylock. She was the associate director of the Brazilian productions of Heathers (2019) and Hansel and Gretel (2020).
Daniela also spent two years in London, where she directed and assisted on various productions, including works at the Canal Cafe Theatre (Short Scenes Festival), Tristan Bates Theatre (Sundown Town, a new musical by Adam Watcher), and Stockwell Playhouse (Antony & Cleopatra by William Shakespeare).
In Brazil, she directed The Nutty Boy – The Musical, inspired by Ziraldo’s book (Bradesco Theatre, 2014), Crazy as Hell by Emílio Boechat (Monte Líbano Theatre in 2016), and The Centenarian by Newton Moreno (Monte Líbano Theatre, 2019). She was associate director of The Wizard of Ôh, written by Vitor Rocha with music by Marco França (SESC Consolação Theatre, 2019) – a production currently being adapted into a feature film, expected to premiere in 2026.
Daniela has also worked as associate director and resident director on several acclaimed Brazilian musicals, including Jersey Boys (Santander Rooftop Theatre, 2025), Cabaret Kit Kat Club (Santander Rooftop Theatre, 2024), Ney Matogrosso, the musical (Santander Rooftop Theatre, 2022), Silvio Santos Vem Aí, a musical comedy (Santander Rooftop Theatre, 2020); A Christmas Carol (Renault Theatre, 2019); Memoirs of a Gigolo (Procópio Ferreira Theatre, 2015).
AWARDS: Won ACESC Best Director and Best Show 2016 (Crazy as Hell), nominated Best Director 2019 (The Centenarians); Won FEMSA Best show and APCA Best cast em 2009 (The Harlequin Odyssey de Marilia Toledo).
Her other East 15 credits include Constellation by Nick Payne, Attempts on Her Life by Martin Crimp, Next to Normal by Brian Yorkey and Tom Kitt, Woyzeck by George Buchner, and Wedding Dress by Nelson Rodrigues.
Her other University of São Paulo credits include The Seagull by Anton Chekhov, Hanjo by Yukio Mishima, Danton's Death by George Buchner, and Hamlet by Shakespeare.
Daniela holds an MA from East 15 Acting School (London); a BA from University of Sao Paulo; and trained at the Centre of Experimental Performing Arts of Sesi Sao Paulo. She is a proud member of Young Vic's Directors Network.
